The 5 star rating is for the audiobook version, which was so well- done. Definitely deserved ALA 's notable sound recording distinction. Readers gave the characters emotion and depth. I will be recommending this to elementary and middle schoolers, and parents looking for a good, clean and wholesome chapter book for their kids. Great read aloud too. strong themes of family, friendship, determination, staying true to yourself. Predictable, yes. But after reading so many "problem" books for kids, good gravy, this was refreshing. :) We read this as a read-aloud.#2 gave this book 5 stars, #3 gave this book 4 stars. Ironically #3 is the one that wanted to read Johnny Tremain every night (BOO!!!) and I thought that he was just being polite. I guess he really did love it, because he couldn't sit still for this one. This was so well written and every one (except for #3) wanted to read it nightly. I highly recommend reading this one to your kids. It was so very good.
