I enjoyed reading about the author's journey on the Camino de Santiago, a 500-mile pilgrimage mostly in Spain. People have been walking this particular route for almost 1000 years, although the contemporary journey has much more support with lodging and food available throughout the route. The book chronicles the reasons the author made the journey, the companions he met along the way, his musings as he walked, and the interesting places he discovered along the way. It's inspired me to put the pilgrimage on my bucket list. I found this a simple read and maybe at times simplistic but don't let that put you off. I guess it might not be that relevant to people who have walked the Camino and there is no factual assistance in terms of route or places to stay/eat really for those who might do so. However I found it a really enjoyable easy read - some insights are lovely and the people he meets are so varied and interesting so for me it was a rewarding read.
