A Outra Vida (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

Let me start off by saying I love post apocalyptic type of books so that's probably why this got the extra star. The actual writing and details within The Weepers is more of a 3 star. It was good. Don't get me wrong! I enjoyed the story in general. It had a good setup and idea to it. But I find it was too simple and predictable. There was still enough pull to keep me interested but there was room for more. The ending wasn't too exciting because you could see it from a mile away. Every basic apocalypse movie or book had what this had. Which isn't a bad thing but I feel like it all could have been executed a bit more exciting instead of everything just casually thrown in there. The characters were interesting enough but didn't quite reach. Sherry was boring and plain. She didn't seem to have much common sense. Joshua seemed a bit bipolar to me. Lmfao I liked him I did. He was sweet and I found myself wishing he was the main character but at times it's like a light switch was flicked and he turned into a different character all together. Their romance was iffy for me. In the beginning it seemed as if they were more hot bothered by each other. Which is understandable. If I was locked away for 3 years, I'd get tingles from the first cute boy I saw lmfao. There was a connection but I felt there could have been more And that's what seemed to be the issue with the entire book. It lacked..meat. This was a sandwich with one thin slice of turkey. I like my sandwiches stacked with meats!Lmfao. All in all this was a decent book! I did enjoy it quite a bit. I'll be reading the next. I just hope there's more to it. Holy..YES! I loved, loved, LOVED this book!!! Zombies, are awesomely entertaining normally, but Susanne Winnacker gave them a whole new twist and man is it amazing!! The story is great, the plot is slightly predictable (but what Zombie book doesn't have a search and rescue involved?), the writing amazing, the characters are perfect and the action is practically non-stop! Winnacker you rock and I cannot wait to read the rest of this series!!! Sherry and her family are locked in their underground bunker as most of the human race to hide and wait for the government to advise that it is safe to come out, all because of an outbreak of an advanced strain of rabies. It has been "98,409,602 seconds since the heavy, steel door had fallen shut and sealed us off from the world." and the stockpile of food has finally run out, so Sherry and her father decide to venture out to fine more. From the moment the door to the underground bunker opens it is a non-stop action and drama packed adventure. The plot twists will keep you on the edge of your seat, and I loved how each chapter ends with a snip-it or snap shot into Sherry's "Other Life" as a segue into the next chapter. what I couldn't stand was the end, we get a HUGE reveal and that's it, that pissed me off a bit but, even though it's a HUGE cliffhanger, Winnacker couldn't have made it a better leave off for the next book. I can't think of what else to say other than it is amazing, and you need to go read it to believe it!

This was a pretty good book. The story moved quickly and the characters were very interesting.

great story, with some really heart pounding moments in it, but the ending was very abrupt.
