The Weepers: The Other Life (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

This is story about a girl called sherry who is locked in a bunker with her family after an outbreak of rabis has been declared. when food runs out, she and her father venture out to get more only to cone face to face with zombies who take her father. sherry is saved by zombie hunter joshua who takes her back to safe haven with a plan to rescue sherrys family and father. This book was ok, not 'knock your socks off' good but readable. it made a nice change to read about zombies and was a bonus that the zombies wernt your typical 'resident evil' type, but weepers. The other life did make me wonder if a safety bunker is a good idea (you never know!!) and how id cope without all the luxuries I take for granted everyday.I think the second book will be better as there will be the excitement of finding out if 'the fence' really exists and just how far the government has gone to not only test the rabis but to keep this experiment quiet. If im honest though, it isnt a series il rush to read through, although I wont totally discount it forever. Another book about zombies. Shall we take a look? There are zombie's in this novel, but they are called weepers, because of the way their eyes look when you see them. I enjoyed the concept of reading about a family that was living inside a bunker, in a post-apocalypse style. It also gave me much more than I bargained for. After a while the family runs out of food, and the entire family is at it's wits end. It's up to the eldest daughter, and her father to run out in search for food. The world outside their bunker is quite different than what they expected. There are plenty of great relationships in this novel, which is what I always look for in a zombie story. To me it's never about the actual zombies, but how people that survive handle it, and adapt to their new home. This novel does that perfectly. Not only does it focus on the love of family, but the trust of new friends. The ending was a cliffhanger, don't worry I won't give anything away. Well, it's not really a cliffhanger at all, but I have a lot of questions that I would mind being answered by a second novel, and I really hope one is out there. I would hate to think of this as the end. Will they find a way to help those they care about? I loved this novel, and flew through pages, constantly wanting more as I kept reading. This is a strong tale with a strong plot. Happy that I randomly picked it up at the library, it is now one of my favorites. I hope you will all take the time to read this one. Thank you!
