This book is simplistic and most of the clues to solve the mystery just fell into the MC's lap, but the characters charmed me and I liked the setting and premise. My biggest beef is the attitude toward marriage--that for "some women" husband and family are enough, but discerning and intelligent women will eschew marriage for the greater excitement of a career.I hope if the romance continues in further books that the MC will see that nothing matters more than relationships--the greatest adventure of all. I labeled this under both YA and New Adult because it kind of fell in between. I got this from the library and it was interesting. The heroine is feisty. It highlights the plight and powerlessness of women during that time period. There are aspects that aren't completely realistic for the time but the author seems to own that and write what about an organization that she wishes could have been real.I'm not entirely sold on the "hero" or the subtle romance but I sensed that was on purpose as I gathered he/they have an arc across the entire series that is just started in this book. I did like the idea of the agency. I also really liked the idea of the heroine and some of the unique issues of her heritage that she has to deal with in a time period that shunned her for it as well as being a woman. I liked that the two main characters felt realistically flawed but still likable. I'll check out the next form the library too. It is available from Overdrive so it's pretty easy to obtain.
This was so fun! I want to order all the other ones and read them noooooooow.
