This is the sequel to "Gone with a Handsomer Man". Teeny is enjoying her relationship with her former high school sweetheart, Coop. But things get complicated when her formal rival calls implicating that Coop is still involved with her and had a child with her. When Teeny goes over to confront her, she sees a wild scene as she sees her attacked and strangled. Running away, fearing to be implicated she goes to Coop for help. On returning, their is no sign of the crime, but Emerson, the young girl, is left alone. Emerson is convinced that Coop is her real father and does not want to go back to her "father" owner of the local pharmacy, who seems a bit cold and unfeeling. She is quite precocious, and Teeny finds herself falling in love with her despite her conflicts about Coop's possible involvement. Teeny has two mysteries to solve: the mystery strangling and Emerson's parentage. We see some back story for Teeny and also the return of the fling she had after Coop dumped her back in high school. Along the way, we see some of her recipes, which are included at the back of the book. This one didn't gel as well as the first book, but had some amusing moments. I had a hard time liking the characters in the book. The lead male and the one with the romantic involvement with the lead female was weak. And whenever she tried to talk to him about her concerns, he shot her down. And because he didn't take her seriously, she ends up in trouble at the end. And he lied to her a few times and she kept forgiving him. Maybe if I read the first book of the series first, I would have felt more for the characters.

I enjoyed this book because of the twisted plot. It was a very refreshing read.

Ok, but pretty predictable. Couldn't really get into it.
