This book may have been OK or not. I had to put it down in the first few pages.Author seem s to show she reads what she wants from her Bible and ignores the parts that do not fit in her life, her writing and her money making schemes. God is clear about keeping far away from the politics of the world. No matter what country you live in. God's Kingdom should be the only government a lover of God would want to be part of. To say that praying to the 'Lord' to get direction to run for a political office is offensive to God and his Son who clearly refused all political offices and aspirations. Author must not have read the following verses: (Matthew 4:8-10) . . ".Again the Devil took him along to an unusually high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to him: “All these things I will give you if you fall down and do an act of worship to me.” Then Jesus said to him: “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service." All human governments are run by and owned by Satan, so how could God bless someone that works for his enemy?Jesus was clear his father's heavenly kingdom was what he fought for, preached and witnessed about. He refused to be a part of the worlds politics when he was on earth.(John 6:15) . . .Then Jesus, knowing that they were about to come and seize him to make him king, withdrew again to the mountain all alone. And God is clear, steer away from the worlds politics and others parts of the world, because Satan is running the entire thing. (John 15:18, 19) . . .If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you. . .(1 John 2:15-17) . . .Do not love either the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him; because everything in the world—the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the showy display of one’s means of life—does not originate with the Father, but originates with the world. Furthermore, the world is passing away and so is its desire, but the one who does the will of God remains forever. Clearly she is not up on her Bible reading , so I wonder what her motives are? Is she more for money from her books that to get people to love God. A wonderful book with an ingenious story line. Gwen Arlington's independent spirit and absolute determination to be known for more than just another pretty face has resulted in a personal pact to remain unattached. When Morgan McKinley, a handsome millionaire with a heart for ministry, shows up in Bethlehem Springs, Gwen's decision is challenged; especially when she and Morgan both decide to run for mayor of their small town. They quickly discover that they have more in common than not; in more ways than one. "A Vote of Confidence" is an enjoyable read and I look forward to reading "Fit to be Tied"; Cleo's story.
