The book Abe's Honest Words: The Life of Abraham Lincoln outlines the story of Abraham Lincoln's life and the obstacles he faced to become the man we all know. It talks about how he diligently worked to learn as much as he could even with his limited resources and learning tools. However, the trails he faced didn't stop him, he strongly believed in equality and would do whatever he could to make sure that happened. The illustrations also compliment the text really well and both the text and the illustrations come together to create the interesting and informative picture book that children would love. Biography book 1. I thought the book was okay I am not a history person. I do not find reading about history to be fun at times. How he didn't become president the first time or lawyer the first time. It's nice to know where the Declaration of Independence came from. How he wanted to free the slaves and nobody wanted to do it. That even though its a history book its okay to read. I would recommend this to somebody that likes history. They get to learn more about Abraham Lincoln.
This book starts when Abraham Lincoln was young. It discusses how he always knew slavery was wrong.

This is a great picture book. Nelson's illustrations are fabulous, as always.
