This didn't seem funny to me, I didn't like the characters, and the plot skipped around. I think that the author was trying to set a fast pace, but it just seemed like noise. I felt like the characters were shrill. Plus, maybe I am just a NY liberal, but I didn't like all of the characters calling each other hurtful names. I wouldn't want to be friends with an adult who called a Native American by some stupid Dances-With-Wolves knock-off name immediately upon meeting him. And I have been trying not to use "retarded" lately. There is a character who is supposed be difficult and angry, so it fits her character, but there are other people who are saying it too. Ick. DNF I gave this book a second chance and I'm glad I did. Three stars isn't the best, but that's because this book didn't start getting interesting until about 150 pages in. And there's three warnings I want to give if you plan on reading this book. ONE, I know this labeled a "romance" novel, but it's primarily a mystery. TWO, if you're buying it for the erotica, don't. There's barely any. And THREE, if you don't like sarcasm or smart-ass remarks every other paragraph, then I'd choose another book. That was the toughest part of this book. There were pages where I literally skimmed through the majority because it was all time-wasting sarcasm. But it had a great ending and a few enjoyable plot twists.
