Adventure Time With Fionna & Cake Vol. 1 (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
I loved the concept of this - the gender reversal - but I thought the episode was done much better than the comics were. There doesn't seem to be much story; it seems like it was put together very quickly. There isn't a lot of substance. When compared to the regular Adventure Time comics, which I recommend heavily, this seems lacking. But I do love that Fionna and Cake are great role models for young people, showing that girls can be badass too.Great for all ages, just like the classic Adventure Time comics. I liked this; anything to do with Adventure Time then I'm automatically a fan. I thought that because it was Fionna and Cake, the girl alter-egos, that I'd love it more, but I didn't. It wasn't as funny and quirky and I felt a lot more could have been done to make it more girl kick-ass and awesome rather than diluting that down with stereotypical pink girlishness. That was a great shame, nevertheless, I did enjoy it.
