Against the Sun is a story in The Raines of Wind Canyon series. Jake is an ex-marine who is working as a body guard for Trace. He has been hired by Sage's grandfather to keep her safe during negotiations with a sheikh. This was a good story with a little bit of mystery as to who set the bomb. However I didn't feel the same chemistry between the main characters that was in Against the Fire. My favorite scene is when Rina brings a special guest to see Sage and Jake, His reaction was priceless. I am intrigue to see Rina and Alex's story. You can see my full review at More Than a Review dot com where I rate the level of sex, violence, language and drug/alcohol use in books. Sage Dumont needs to close a big deal to win her grandfather's approval and maybe a leadership role in the family oil company. All she needs to do is convince a visiting Saudi sheik to sell her some used oil pipe and a drilling platform and she's golden.A thorn in her side however may prove to be the bodyguard her grandfather hired, expecting the proposed deal may cause trouble. Jake Cantrell is everything Sage doesn't like in a guy — he's super alpha, big and probably would fall asleep at the opera. But if she wants to work the deal she must take Jake — granddad's order. The attraction is hot as Jake, ex-special forces, teaches Sage the ropes when it comes to dealing with Saudis. But once the Saudis arrive, things start happening. News of the deal is leaked, protestors picket Sage's office, her car gets shot at, and then Jake hears one of the bodyguards talking about a shipment coming in with the pipe.As the two work to close the deal, things heat up between them. Sage calls off her engagement and enters into an affair with Jake. There's a lot of sex and not much story. Then a lull, and an incident concerning the shipment (Sage's involvement is pretty far-fetched), which leads to another incident. Not the best in this series at all — biggest problem is Sage is supposed to be supersmart but comes off as spoiled, not too bright socialite. And except for the big, he-man traits, Jake is perfect. Think Barbie and Ken with muscles. It also lacks some of the suspense.
What do You think about Against The Sun (2012)?
I loved the story and Jake. But sage got on my nerves. She was selfish and annoying.
