4,5 starsThe general feeling this book left me with was "awwwww". It's a feel good book with less angst than I'm used to from Amy Lane, and I appreciated it. The author did a good job describing a AHDH character (Patrick), the difficulty he had going through life and the self-esteem problems this gave him. She overdid the asshole of his ex-boyfriend Cal a little (drugging him and then leaving him in his car to die after you drove that into the river is a bit well... unrealistic) but Amy Lane is one of those writers touching me enough to disband disbelief. *Happy sigh* 4 stars...this was...weird.I really liked it, don't get me wrong, but it was weird. The characters are different, but very likable, even Fly Bait. Whiskey was a genuinely good guy. Patrick was an adorable mess. I felt so bad for that poor kid. They meet under bizarre circumstances, to say the least, and instead of taking the normal course of action, they do something else. It was a slow evolution of feelings, no insta-love or hopping into bed first thing, which was nice. It has a made-for-tv-drama type moment there towards the end, but honestly I didn't mind. It may have not been the most realistic story, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
What do You think about Agua Clara (2014)?
Another great read from Amy Lane. I am officially a huge fan.
