All By My Selves: Walter, Peanut, Achmed, And Me (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

I gave this book a four because I really did enjoy reading it, and he brought his comedy and his jokes into the book to keep it funny. I learned a lot about Jeff's early life and the patience he had to keep working on his craft before he made it big. I came across this book when my parents got it for me in 8th grade, but I unfortunately I never got around to reading it. I was surprised to see how average his early life actually was. He talks about how most comedians have had pretty messed up lives, and then they make fun of themselves and we laugh about it, but he didn't have to do that. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who ever watched and enjoyed Jeff Dunham's shows. I like this book although I cannot really put a precise reason as to why I just thoroughly enjoyed it. the great anecdotes that spring forth from it and the beautiful story of success from the little boy who got a cheap ventriloquist dummy for Christmas. I just think it's a wonderful narrative. I read the story when I was about 10 or 11 and I saw a great simplicity in it and I found myself gripping for the stories on the next page. Therefore, I am frankly not interested in people reviewing this book and trying to put the reasoning of social Darwinism and the success written about by the philosophers to this rather simple story of a man who fought for success and won it; I cannot really appreciate people reviewing this book just so they can whine about their personal lives and blame it on Jeff Dunham for writing this book and getting them upset. If you can't stand the heat then get out of the figurative kitchen and quit complaining. I think many people would agree it's just a bit too covetous for our sympathy. Everyone is gifted in something and because you were mad because you're not "muy talentoso" like Jeff Dunham does not mean you cannot make a profession or at least do something with one of your gifts which I am sure you have. So don't complain because you're not a famous ventriloquist. Maybe you weren't called to do that; maybe you should just try focusing on something else rather than downplaying the success of others because it is not right nor is it polite to the author.

What do You think about All By My Selves: Walter, Peanut, Achmed, And Me (2010)?

Jeff has worked really hard to get to where he is today and the road wasn't always pretty.
