All That Is Bitter And Sweet: A Memoir (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

I always like uncovering the real life of celebrities. I enjoy knowing that everyone has his or her own struggle and in this case, Ms. Judd was no exception. I find it remarkable that she is "as well adjusted" as she appears to be. She definitely needed more love and more careful parenting; some of the incidents that formed who she became are jaw dropping to say the least. I do applaud her work for the desperate woman of this world and wish her success and peace. I think I was expecting too much from this book; thinking it'd be a bit different. It was a journey following Ashley through many overseas trips for her service work, through inpatient treatment, and more overseas trips. If you don’t like the first few chapters, don't continue on. Most of the chapters seem a bit repetative, with a change in place and names only. The service work she does, and the people she's been able to connect with, is amazing, but I don't feel I really got to know Ashley through the book, just the problems around the world that she is called to combat. I still think she's an amazing woman and am thankful that she feels called to use her fame and money for great things, but I wouldn't really recommend this book unless you were interested in going into the same fields of work/study that she assists in.

What do You think about All That Is Bitter And Sweet: A Memoir (2011)?

This book was terrible. She rambles on and on about things.
