Manages to stretch a rather thin period of time into a full length memoir/travelogue, Rachel Shukert's voice is clear, smart, funny and self-deprecating, carrying a short time in two European countries shortly following her graduation from NYU. It's all in good fun, but despite the lack of substance, everything seems to wrap up a bit too abruptly, with a cute enough ending that seems like an afterthought. Recommended for overly optimistic Tisch grads that need to be knocked down a few pegs. I really enjoy reading other people's accounts of their travel experiences abroad, especially in Europe. I identify with Rachel Shukert, probably a little too much, she is amusingly self deprecating and maybe too hard on herself yet she forges ahead without apologizing for who she is. She is polite and appreciative of foreign culture, when she isn't drunk, and seems to want to make herself at home wherever she is, no matter how awkward the initial encounters may be. This was altogether a fun read and now I really want to go to Amsterdam.

Funny account of her travels in Europe. Light vacation reading.
