I have no idea how to start this review, but I can say that I had to bite my tongue once I finished it. I had been reading vampire themed books for a while and frankly they all just started to blur together. This book turned out to be different though. Sure it still had the forbidden love aspect with the mortal girl and vampire guy. But what intrigued me was that there was a way to break the curse and the process it was done through. It's not a complicated process, but the price to pay is rather steep. Amaranth, the book's title, is basically a place for exile. Some vampires actually choose to go there and Samira (all hail the vampire Queen) is bound to grant them their wish. Although I can't say much more about it since that would he spoiling the read.I stated earlier that I had to bite my tongue and here's why. Halfway through the book I found myself not as invested in the read as I normally am with other books. I chalked it up to me reading too many vampire themed novels and that I needed something else to read. Still, I'm not one to abandon a book unless I really have to. And I'm glad I went through with the read. The story picked up towards the end of the book and my emotions along with it. People died, people lived, people chased after other people, and the epilogue had me reeling. A bomb was pretty much dropped in the epilogue and I almost died from the impact. That was complete hyperbole, but it was that big. So to say the least, this book needs to be read by vampire enthusiasts everywhere. well here goes nothing....first off i was totally mad when i got to the last page of this book.its starts off with a 21 year old camille hiding out from her abusive ex boyfriend who cant seem to take a hint crazy is all i have to say about him.she plans to get away for a bit by going to paris to get away for awhile.not knowing that the one trip will change her life as she knows it.she meet gavin an feels as if she has known him forever an they get along an chat for awhile then depart an she goes back home not knowing that again that she will see gavin once more therfore goig out with him on a double date with him while her friend is partnered with gavins friend gabe.one night coming back from one there nights together gavin meets her abusive ex boyfriend.the man leaves but gavin is weary of him an knows sommething that camille dosent but i wont reveal that so your just gonna have to read amaranth to find out i can assure you that you wont regret it :)
What do You think about Amarant (2000)?
DNF this book is likely excellent for others, but it was too violent for me.
