Reservation (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

This was a tough one for me to read, I'm sorry to say this, but my tolerance for the both of them became real low in this one. And there were just some things that are completely against my "code" for relationships. Some big no-nos happen and I just couldn't see things differently after that. Kate and Ryan's relationship went through the wringer again and again in this one. This book I would say is the true test of their relationship and to see if Ryan's "amazing" past can stay there, and if Kate can truly accept his past and go from there? Yes, it continues in the 2nd book; Ryan needs to tame his ghosts!Ryan is becoming quite the celebrity with his writing and movie deal in the works. Being in the public, skeletons are bound to be cleaned out of that closet of his. And the long distance they have, while Kate is in St. Lucia teaching children, it's just another element being added to their already crazy situation. Can love conquer all?Not only did Ryan and Kate's relationship have stress, it started to cause a strain to between and her best friend Carter (who loves and cares for her deeply). AND, he gets a whole book to himself! All I really have to say is that Ryan had A LOT of bad things going for him and it was a bit hard for me to feel bad for him because well he kind of asked for it. Granted he was trying to stay away from all of that and keep his past in the past, but when shady people are involved .... the world is just against you man!It was a HEA for Reservation! I just wanted slap sense into the both of them, they drove me absolutely crazy! Ok, so at first I was completely cringing about the idea of this book. The end of Preservation is about Ryan and when he and Kate first met and his thinking while he was talking to her. That's great and all but I certainly didn't want to read another book which is exactly the same as the first with a different pov. Nope, this gal doesn't have time for that! But, good news! I was totally wrong and although this IS from Ryan's perspective, it actually starts from where Preservation left off. Ok, there was a bit of a reminder at the beginning which I think Rachael could have pulled out a little, it was redundant but I had JUST read Preservation so I'm guessing if that were not the case I would have enjoyed the little reminder. Fortunately it wasn't even that much. Then the plot for this one really starts. These two... I should do a vlog instead but I think it would be too redundant seeing me shake my head over and over again. Ryan and Kate just can't get a break! Sure they both have some serious issues to work through but geezus people, learn to work WITH the person you love... can we? Maybe? The angsty part, which is quite a bit of this book had me worried for both of them. And funnily enough I can't side with either of them. They are both doing things that the other doesn't like but do they back off, hell no. Their independence is too important to them, really that was more Kate though. And although Ryan has a long list full of crap he is doing wrong I think the things Kate does winds up putting him right into this horrible black hole. The poor guy just can't get out even though he desperately wants to!I read this in a very, very short time. All the drama going back and forth kept me up late into the night. The ending was great and I cannot wait to pick up book three!

What do You think about Reservation (2013)?

I definitely enjoyed book 1 a little more than this one, but overall the series was good.
