America The Edible: A Hungry History, From Sea To Dining Sea (2010) - Plot & Excerpts
Adam Richman, not only is he funny on the show Man v. Food but shows his wittiness in America The Edible. Through out the book he takes you on the journey of his struggles between becoming a big time Hollywood actor to comforting and finding his true passion within the food across America. And because food is something that comforts us all and were all faced with a struggle in our lives he's easily relatable to. If anyone is expecting "Man v Food" from this book, you may be disappointed. This book is Adam Richman's love letter to American cuisine through the viewpoint of nine cities from Los Angeles and San Francisco on the West Coast to Portland and Brooklyn on the East. You get anecdotes of the people who he shares his meals with and get a guided tour of the food history of the cities he speaks of which influenced particular food styles whether it be the Asian influence cuisine of Los Angeles, the "Polish Boy" sandwich in Cleveland or the "Lobster Roll" of Portland.Adam also imparts the wisdom of his food experience in little "sidebar" pieces giving information on items such as his favourite condiments, favourite restaurants - particularly during his "Lobster Roll" quest and even his favourite food related films.Yes, I'd love to go on a road trip with Adam across the US to experience the food that he speaks of so lovingly, but failing that, this book is more than an ample substitute.
What do You think about America The Edible: A Hungry History, From Sea To Dining Sea (2010)?
Nothing amazing about it, but it was pretty good. Really made me want to visit Austin.

Was hoping the book would be more about food and less about Adam's sex life.

This is not helping with my celebrity crush on Adam Richman.
