Amor Verdadero Y Otros Desastres (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
This was another chinooks book and was enjoyable like the previous ones. To understand this one you didn't have to read the first books in the series and the major connecting factor between the books in this series is that it deals with the chinook's hockey team. This book reminded me of susan elizabeth phillips' book it had to be you as they both featured women who had nude pictures taken before they inherited a sports team and those pictures undermined their authority as owner. Besides both falling for the quarterback/team captain, both stories have many similarities it felt like I was re-visiting the characters. I liked Faith as a character and found her drop dead gorgeous body/looks more believable since she was a playboy bunny rather than many romance novels who make the protagonist amazingly gorgeous yet expect the readers to believe she is just a normal girl. I felt that her background story wasn't as well developed as some of Gibson's other novels but she still was an interesting character who I wanted to find her HEA. I also thought that the first book in this series, simply irresistible, was better than this one but overall a nice and enjoyable story and I was happy when Ty and Faith end up together. Love Rachel Gibson and love this story. Read this when it was first published and just read it again when I saw her latest release is a follow up to the series. I have to say the thing that really put me off (both times I read this) was the technical hockey goofs. I am CANADIAN and I understand hockey! They are periods...they are never referred to as frames (its not bowling!) A team does not lose 3-4, they lose 4-3 and in a playoff series they always play 2 games in one city, 2 in the second, then 1, 1, 1. Having got that off my chest, I really enjoyed this story and the sports series and will be looking forward to reading more
