An Accidental Athlete: A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Middle Age (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

I love this book! Probably because in my parts it was like reading about my own experiences as an adult-onset athlete. It's funny, entertaining, enjoyable to read and touches on many of the topics that perhaps only runners can relate to. If you are looking for a training book, this is not it. But if you are looking for an inspirational book on running, this is it!"The glamour of the sport belongs to runners at the front of the pack, but the glory belongs to any one of us" I finished this in 24 hours. It's a light read, a memoir of how John Bingham went from being sedentary and unhappy to athletic and happy. Part inspirational and part life-story, Bingham is writing to "adult-onset athletes" who come to running or other sports later in life. He documents the experiences in his life that turned him away from athletics and then how he overcame all those in order to re-discover himself. He does this largely through the process of re-defining success and coming to terms with his own identity and his own desires.Recommended for anyone interested in a healthier lifestyle than they're currently living, or if you're stuck in a workout routine and wondering if it's worth it.
