An Unauthorized Field Guide To The Hunt (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
Okay, I seem to be in the minority here and maybe I just didn't get this one. There was nothing wrong with the writing, I liked the characters well enough, but I was completely lost as to the whole freaking point. He wanted to win, but he didn't want to win and was getting a cat to choose you a good thing or a bad thing? I couldn't figure out why one minute he's wanting to keep the cat interested then he's saying he doesn't want to be the victor but it will help him escape his family. Sigh. I was totally confused and holy take a licking and keep on ticking. Broken wrists, nearly bleeds out, axe to the chest with broken rips and punctured lungs, holy shit. Anyway, for some reason I just couldn't understand the point to this one, but it's probably just me. Another solid hit from one is fast becoming one of my favorite MM authors! The reason for only three stars instead of four or five? As much as i enjoyed the story and the world building, the hunt itself detracted from the story a little. I enjoyed the details but i wanted more of Shane and Lore and although i got plenty about a third of the way in, and it was hot, i did skim through the descrptions more than enjoyed them. Sexy, fun to read, a LOT of pouncing and a hot mate. Really loved this story! Would love to see this turn into a series or at least see Maero's book!
