And Furthermore. Judi Dench (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

Born Judith Olivia Dench on December 9th 1934, in York, England, her father a G,P, She had 2 older brothers, Peter & Jeffrey who still lives. Through her parents Judi gained a love of performing in Pantomime and in theatre, where her career began at the 'Old Vic' in 1957. Through the following years she performed every known Shakespearean role for females. Her T.V performances are too many to mention, but what stands out to me are her Film roles. Her major coup was getting the role of 'M' James Bond's boss, she has appeared in Casino Royale in 2006, Quantum Of Solace in 2008, and finally 'SkyFall' when her character dies. All her work deserves equal merit, including doing narration and voiceovers on Video games and animated movies. At 79 she is still vibrant with a lot to offer. I loved this book, it was so entertaining and informative. I read it on a flight from India to Bangkok (in fact, I nicked it from the library of my hotel in Jaipur), and Ms Dench's (I want to call her Judi, but that would seem presumptuous) chats and comments and asides made the time 'fly'. (Groan, I know, bad pun.) I've been a huge fan of Judi Dench for years, and when I lived in London, her name on the cast list would guarantee my attendance at a play. I knew nothing of her early career, and I must admit I struggled to imagine her as Juliet, or in 'Cabaret'. But, bonus, as a result of this book I finally watched a Daniel Craig 'Bond' film -- Skyfall. Fantastic! Alas, it seems that is Judi Dench's final outing as 'M'. If you're a fan of Judi Dench, I strongly recommend this book; if you're simply curious about the actor behind 'M', you're in for a surprise.

Just one theatre story after another but none too fascinating.
