Very interesting and well written. I originally trained my dogs following Caesar's methods- and while they were effective I definitely sensed fear in both dogs so I have eased up on a lot of it. Dr. Grandin brings up a lot of points that completely dismantle the "pack mentality" theory and put our pups more in the toddlers who always need boundaries category. A much better way of looking at things in my opinion! This book was amazing! It provided very detailed information about different group of domestic and wild animals. It also provided clarity (in some cases too much so) about meat production as well as the conditions in which animals are kept. It makes me glad that I do not eat meat! It was also interesting how the author, who is autistic, was able to relate to some animals in some ways specifically because of her autism. It made me realize that humans & animals do share connections that can sometimes be overlooked or pushed aside in our busy and human-centered society.
This woman has done so much to help us understand the animals in our care. A very enjoyable book
