Annie's Ghosts: A Journey Into A Family Secret (2009) - Plot & Excerpts
Steve Luxenberg always thought his mother Beth was an only child. She was very mysterious about her childhood and he could find no memories from her childhood. Whilst in the hospital , in delirum Beth talks of a younger sister who was sent away when they were children. After Beth dies, Steve is shocked to find yes there was a sister who lived all her life in a mental institution. Luxenberg then delves into the institutions of the 1940's and how special needs people are treated differently today. my hairdresser loved this and I was intrigued because its alot about Eloise , where Randy made "his" movie with his police car!! very interesting, skimmed over alot of the world history part, glad i read it, learned alot about how the not so bright people were treated 60yrs ago , sad but wonderful how life has changed and about a sister denying she has a sister because of her problems!- mentions alot about detroit and places i've heard about
