To read Aimee's story was quite an emotional thing for me. It reminds me that there are people out there that do not care for their children the same. This little girl was brought up with many things put into her mind that many children her age never ever saw. In Cathy's care I loved the transformation and how slowly she saw that you could trust, that not everyone would hurt you. In the end I thought that it was great to know that She was going to live with her older sibling to know that they had recovered from the abuse that they had witnessed as well. Another great read. Great read in the sense of capturing my attention immediately.I was happy to read that the little girl Aimee was able to have a happy ending where as many children don't get that chance. I was annoyed and frustrated with the many different social workers that they dealt with. Kristen really got on my last nerve. She didn't seem to smart and wanting to work with Cathy. Luckily they were able to get some really good social workers in the end. And I can't imagine how much they do have on their plate...but still. I couldn't stand it.Cathy is such an inspiration. So much that I feel I have found my calling and I hope that one day I can do just as Cathy has. I would love to be a provider and carer that helps get the little ones back on there feet. It's so important to have people who have that motivation. I can't wait to read more of Cathy's books.
I really like Cathy Glass's books. I would recommend them to anyone that liked Torey Hayden or Mary MacCracken. All of these authors trace the growth of children with enormous emotional challenges. Cathy Glass is British and so shows us another country's way of helping these children. The things that work and those that are problematic. Ms Glass's dialog is sometimes stilted, but she is a great storyteller. When I pick up her books, I just can't put them down. I get absolutely nothing done until the last page is finished.

I’m not sure if I’ve ready too many books by Cathy Glass or if it’s just this one where the writing annoyed me a little. At times, I felt a little as though I was repeatedly being lectured on the duties of a foster carer. And I really only needed to be told once how experienced she is, and how many children she’s cared for over the years.I also think she sounded her own trumpet a little too often at times.A good read, although heart breaking, as most of these stories are.
