I decided to read this book because after the last one, The Astral, I felt like I needed some bubblegum. I do read these bubblegum books on occasions when I am feeling blue they're a nice pick-me-up, there's love, drama, crazy events, frequently humor, and then everything is wonderful. It's a formula because it works. This book? This book is just formula, that spark that makes something work was just not there. There were moments, I love dogs probably as much as the protagonist does, so there were some great doggy moments, but I had a hard time identifying with the characters. They were too cliche, and that's hard for a formula book like this! The evil mother, the feckless father, the ingenue step-mother, the rich but down to earth boyfriend/fiancee, and the new mother best friend...there were definitely moments of humor. The mother matching with her dog...I saw that coming from a mile away, but it was still cute.I wish there had been more dogs and actual rescue/adoption scenes and information, I was involved with a rescue for quite some time a few years ago, and nothing in this book was even reasonably close to how rescues/adoptions work. Except maybe the protagonist getting a little too controlling about who gets what dog, that was pretty true-to-life.In the end, everything was wrapped up in a nice pretty bow, but it just wasn't satisfying. It seemed that the protagonist was unreasonable, and in the end everyone changed to make her life easier, instead of her having to figure out how to live and care passionately about her pet cause.I'm not sure I'll pick up this author again, there was potential, but just not enough to savor.Book of the day for November 6, 2014! I would have given this book four stars had it not been for the disappointing romantic subplot. I liked Lara and her supporting cast of quirky friends, family members, and rescue dogs. Her adventures as Scottsdale's answer to Cesar Millan were hilarious, and all the relationships rang true except for the one with her inflexible, unlikeable ex-boyfriend Evan. They broke up at the beginning of the book over his dislike of dogs and I found it irritating and unfathomable that Lara would spend the rest of the story pining for him even though he didn't seem worth a second glance. It dragged my enjoyment of the book down to two stars.
What do You think about Şanslı Köpek Çöpçatanlık Servisi (2013)?
This book was just meh for me. The story really ever took off even though the premise was good. I
