Omg, this was sooo adorable. I loved it. Just a fun fluffy read about best friends who become lovers. Derek and Ford are on the same college football team. Derek has a boyfriend who no one likes because he's basically using Derek for publicity. Ford told Derek that he's straight. Angst happens when Derek is severely injured in a game but as he loses one relationship he gains a richer, deeper one with Ford. Lovely little story with a super sweet epilogue. This may not be for everyone but I adored the characters and story. I was totally in the mood for this romantic little yarn. Like all of Sara Bell's work that I've read so far, this little 48-page novella was both sweet and satisfying. The story begins with Derek Hoffman, a college football star who has it made. He's got a hot boyfriend, a caring and supportive family, a bright future in pro football, and is the first openly gay candidate for the Heisman. Then of course tragedy strikes, and Derek is left to face an uncertain future. With Derek at his weakest point, his best friend, Ford Galloway, then steps in to support him all the way. Derek is left with some serious decisions to make about his future plans, his supposed boyfriend, and his confusing, "straight" best friend Ford.As far as reality goes, the story is much too perfect to be true in our current world. But hey, that's why it's called fiction, right? And you know what, sometimes I want to read a story where everything turns out perfectly for its characters. There's no requirement that says every gay-themed novel must be with filled with angst or prejudice or some other gay-based difficulty. There's nothing wrong with wishing that the world really did have openly gay men and women in the realm of professional athletics. So if you are looking for a sweet, enjoyable little romance with a fairy tale ending, this is a great short pick. If you are looking for serious literature or erotica, you're out of luck.
What do You think about Aquamarine (2000)?
