Athlete Vs. Mathlete (Athlete Vs Mathlete (Quality)) (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

2014-15 Texas Bluebonnet Award nominee. More than just a "boy" sports story, this is a great brother story, fraternal twins who are nothing alike. Alternating POV, chapter titles and even section divider symbols fit the style and personality of each brother. Owen's and Russell's relationship rings true, as does the parent's. I love Owen's early description of Russell: "He was a perfect fit for the library, not the locker room". Will make a fun read aloud for 4th and 5th grade. A cute little story told in two viewpoints of fraternal twins- one known for being an athlete and the other for being the brains. Of course, they get jealous or have a misunderstanding and fall apart as brothers when the geek happens to make the basketball team (the coach insisting on him trying out based solely on hits height). A nice feel-good story and great for the target young middle school audience.
