A good David Walliams book - easy to read, engaging and funny with typical larger than life characters. However, the style of writing is not very sophisticated and does not provide children with a good model on which to base their own writing. There are two many lists for a start and he definitely needs to learn some new connectives as First and Then get very tiring in such a long book. Children will enjoy it, but not one for use in the classroom! Fantastic book, David Walliams is a fantastic children's writer. I totally agree with other reviews that he is just like Roald Dahl - our 'new' Roald Dahl.Great story line, this is my first D.W book I have read but I intend on reading them all as my children have them.Highly Recommend (however the word 'short-arse' is used in the book just for parents of younger children so you are aware.
