Be Careful What You Pray For (2010) - Plot & Excerpts
I really liked that the author finally fleshed out a story on another member of Curtis Black's family. I was getting tired of Curtis doing the same things over and over and OVER AGAIN. I liked that she showed how Alicia was affected by all the bad choices that her father had made and how she was heading down the same path. I liked that she showed Alicia's flaws but also showed her finally learning that she didn't HAVE to be her father, she could rise above all of his sins and embrace a happy and healthy life. Be Careful What You Pray For is the sequel to The Best of Everything, another tale in the Rev. Curtis Black series. If you've followed the series then you already know that Alicia, his daughter, is beautiful and spoiled. Her first marriage to Rev. Phillip Sullivan failed because of Alicia's infidelity and execessive spending habit. So, not being one to give up on love, Alicia meets none other than the Reverend JT Valentine, and quickly says "I do." She feels that Rev. JT is the man she has been praying for. He is everything her first husband wasn't; in fact he is the pastor of a large congregation with 5,000 members. JT doesn't question her excessive spending habits.Alicia is clueless about her husband's philandering with multiple women in his congregation. But the real reason JT married Alicia was to be the son-in-law of Rev. Curtis Black. He knew the name recognition would give him fame and much-needed money. Rev. Black recognizes JT's dark heart, even though Alicia is blinded by the love she has for her husband. Is love enough for Alicia to stay with JT?
