Becoming Three (2009) - Plot & Excerpts

What the hell Cameron Dane? Just how is it possible for you to write two menage stories in different series and make them so perfect yet so distinct? If I find a menage book that I like by a certain author, even if its not a perfect 5 star rating, I will usually see if that author has written any other menage stories. Unfortunately the pattern that the author uses in their stories becomes abrasively clear within the first few chapters and I become disappointed and bored.Cameron Dane has successfully written two menage stories that the only similarities I see are the depth of emotional connection between the three characters and hot Hot HOT sex scenes. I have yet to read a menage by another author that makes me want to BE in a menage. The characters in this particular book are engaging, their struggles true to life and the villain is shiver inducing. Well done, Dane. Well done. I may just have to read one of your books that are not menage... Surprisingly quite good. Mystery? Not bad; I didn't figure it out until the characters did. There could have been a bit more intrigue, but that's a minor quibble. I liked the characters, although I agree with a lot of the reviewers that Jasper and Sarah seemed younger than they were. It was never explicitly stated that Jace was a recovering alcoholic, and so it came across more like the author was coming down on his drinking from a moral standpoint (I can't imagine that's actually the case, but if it were, I would laugh really really hard).Jace was the least fleshed-out of the characters, but this is clearly part of a series, so I don't know if maybe he played a large part in some of the other books. One thing that really bugs me is when characters from a previous book in the series show up and for no particular reason are super best friends to a new main character. They have uncharacteristically witty lines and want to solve everyone's problems are always nauseatingly happy with how everything turned out after their book ended... It's like a big "wink wink" to the audience, and it never ever comes across as genuine. This book had almost none of that. The previously-used characters really fit into the story, and it did feel genuine for them to show up in the ways they did. Then again, maybe that's just because I haven't read any of the other books?

What do You think about Becoming Three (2009)?
