I don’t read too many contemporary romance or erotica, but this short contemporary erotica romance got my attention from a couple of Goodreaders’ reviews and the premise of the story drew me in. It’s only 75 pages so I decided to give it a try. In the past, the few erotica or borderline erotica stories I’ve read lacked emotion or an overall purpose other than to present readers sex on a page. Basically, the main dish is usually the sex and however hot or imaginative the sex is, I’ve been left feeling like I wasted my time. Not so with this short story. This is a sexy story with heart. Seriously, if the sex were taken out completely, I would have still enjoyed this couple. The theme/s of this book is one that I’m a sucker for..the “I’ve loved you for years,” “childhood friends to lovers,” and “the hero is the heroine’s brother’s best friend.” – Alluring, right? Well.. I was definitely lured and in reading the story, something about the characters, the love scenes, and the secluded cabin setting clicked with me. I felt the hero’s angst over the heroine, the attraction between them, and the romance. The sex was just icing on the cake..a very delicious one! *Fanning myself * This is the first book I have read by Cameron Dane, a sweet story of Kelsey and John, who have known each other since childhood and have been fighting most of the time and now find themselves alone in a remote cabin where they discover and admit their love for each other…but not without a lot of angst and soul-searching. Sparks fly from the first moment they see each otherKelsey I quite like despite her attitude …the pink hair, the tattoes, the fact that she’s not the usual stick-thin damsel in distress. John…somehow I felt disconnected with him…who he was, what was he all about – maybe if the story had been longer and more character development, it might have changed my view about them. At times I thought there was a bit too much angst and too many things kept back from each other. The sex scenes are more than hot but after a while, with so many of them, found myself skimming some of the pages. An enjoyable short read.
What do You think about The Sweetest Tattoo (2008)?
I LOVED this short sweet story, with lots of totally hot bedroom scenes!
