Umm, what happened. So this is my second book by Blair which is the 2nd in the series. The first book with dragons was whimsical and fun, a little silly but very good over all for the humor it was trying for. This on fell so flat for me.First it was disjointed and the flow was totally off with the read not sure where anything was going. Yet the overall story of the kids was clear enough. Why he was taken by her, why she was light one moment and in complete freakout the next. The little parts just didn't add up to the whole picture.Second, there was no chemistry. It starts bad by being disjointed and not understanding the attraction or how deep it is. Then it goes to sudden changes in mood, mode, and discussion. So I liked the story she was trying to tell but it fell totally flat, the parts that were supposed to be fun or funny seemed forced and the romance was just so/so... or worse. This is the 2nd book in Annette Blair's "Works Like Magic Series". Vivica Quinlan runs the Works like Magic Employment Agency, and helps some unique individuals acclimate to the the town in Salem, MA. She can sense when magical creatures come across dimensions and is the one to find them and help them with necessatry papers and jobs. She's already helped some men who had originaaly been Romans centuries earlier that an evil sorcoress sent them to the alternate dimension as dragons. A good sorcoress isn't as strong, but is able to try and send one at a time back through the dimension to earth... but they must find their 'heart mate' and help them in that person's quest in order to stay. This time, Vivica chances upon Chance Godrickson at the back door of her friend Queshia's home. Chance is actually Queshia's Guardian Angel, and he has been in love with her the day he sacrificed his life for hers almost 10 years earlier. Queisha is an agoraphobe and won't leave her home, though some big changes are coming her way through the arrival iof twin girls she had been a surrogate mother for 8 years before to help a childless couple, who have just been in a mountain climbing accident.Chance's fellow Guardian Angel Angus had knocked him off the Cloud up in Heaven to go down and help her through this trial... and to help him with his infatuation of Queshia. Though his wings are hidden in sacks on his back, there's some interesting things that happen with his wings, and one incident in particular had me laughing out loud (as well as Angus)! This is a very sweet love story that involves a young woman's challenge to try and work through her psychological trauma to help the twins who she had fallen in love with as they were growing in her belly. I fell in love with the twins as Queshia and Angus were helping to take care of the girls who hadn't yet learned exactly what happened to their parents. Some cameos from Ms Blair's earlier books make appearances, which is a special treat if you've already read The Kitchen Witch; My Favorite Witch; The Scott, the Witch and the Wardrobe; and the Triplate Witch Sisters' trilogy.Sneak preview of the next book will bring back another of the dragon warriors. Yay! I highly recommend this author's books to anyone who likes a little magic twist and humor with their romance!
