The writing is incredibly amateur, I felt like I was reading a story written by a fourteen year old trying to be edgy by using very vulgar language and crude descriptions. The dialogue was extremely generic...like conversations off of the tv show "Full House"....The ending was awful. Very disappointing! I guess I understand where the author was trying to go with it but it really just failed. And I got irritated with Alessa throughout the story bc I felt that as someone who was supposed to have been hardened by street life she was really stupid a number of times-for instance, (spoiler) if u see a man in the shadows asking for help why wouldn't u just call the police and let them help him? Instead she goes with a kid to check on him and gets brutally beaten and raped...I mean obvious trap here..I've been blessed where I have never had to live on the streets and even I can figure out that this was a trap...and she oh so wanted to protect Lucy but she willingly takes her to the home where she was raped as a child and introduces her to these ppl? But little Lucy can't go see her in the hospital bc it would be too traumatic...I felt like the author never allowed Alessa to rise above her "white trashiness" and let her have foul mouth and in every conversation she had too! And then there were inconsistencies...she's 19 when she meets Remo who is two years older than her-so 21 but he's already a physical therapist...um to become a physical therapist you have to earn your undergraduate-4 yrs and then ur masters or doctorate-another 3-4 yrs... The story itself ok it's plausible but not the best... I can tell u if it weren't for the wonder of self-publishing this book would never have been published... This book is powerful! Don't get me wrong its hard to read. But what really made me love this book and author is the realness and what I mean by that is there are so many books out there that have the HEA which there are times when I need that and I do love those books but there are also times when real life needs to be shown as well. Bad things do happen and not always is there a HEA to come and save people. I loved how this book showed the real world and what does happen so often. I think the author is amazingly brave and I loved her writing. Thank you for being you and writing what you do!!
I cried and cried! OMG what a sad tragic book.
