Bill The Vampire (The Tome Of Bill) (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

I give this book four out of five stars for making me laugh out loud, for thinking about the plot when I wasn’t reading it, and a memorable protagonist. I laughed my way through this book, and even the cover made me laugh. It’s like Napoleon Dynamite was turned vampire, which totally appeals to the gen-x’er in me. I’m going to add the rest of this series to my que. I’m glad to have a for sure pick me up on my to-read list. I listened to the audible version of this and enjoyed the narrating talent of Christopher John Fetherof. The writer fancies himself a comedian and I'm sure someone somewhere thinks he is funny. There was only one little bit of humor in this book I found to be funny (no spoiler - but it's the objects empowered by faith). The rest of the "humor" was ignorant, disrespectful, and horribly misogynistic. I have no problem with characters who a-holes. But this story does not have a SINGLE PERSON object to his a-hole comments and actions in any real way, including the female characters. The rampant sexism was hard to get through despite the fact the writing was decent and the plot interesting and surprisingly unique for a vampire novel. I will not read any more in this series and will skim to see if the same sexism is prevalent in any other I pick up by this author. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

This was a semi funny vampire book. Where like many others, it happens to a regular guy who happens to be a geeky loser who thinks too much to himself. I felt that the author captured the "average" pervy nerd quite well where I can picture it was a few people I might know. His story goes from complete loser to master on the coven and becoming rare to his kind (freewill). overall, I enjoyed reading this short read to wash the previous books to make room for a new.

So you certainly couldn't call it great literature or anything - but it was entertaining escapism.

Gamer, techie-geek becomes a vampire. Supernatural silliness ensues.

Very funny and very good!
