Set in Utah's ski country, this has private investigator Sloane Monroe attempting to solve the murder of a talented skier whose sister has arrived on the scene, insisting that the dead woman was too advanced a skier to die as she had. Any number of possible suspects are interviewed and there is later another death, that of the murderer. Sloane has a madcap friend who buoys her up at times. This is better than some of the women detective stories. I've read the second book now, and I'm definitely going to like this series. Strong female heroine with a smart mouth and smart brain. I gave this one a 3 because the writing seemed a little stilted to me, although it was a good enough story to read the second book. The second one is much better in the writing style and the plot keeps you moving and guessing. Just started the third book. We'll see. :-)
Reads like a best seller. Kept me guessing until the end!
