I hadn't read any Molly Murphy books for years, so perhaps my tastes have changed, because I found Daniel to be annoyingly self righteous. I kept wondering why Molly would want to marry him if he wanted her to quit investigating and she worried so much about angering him. I admit I read the first 3 books in the series and none since, so perhaps I missed something that would explain his attitude. It took away any enjoyment of their wedding. I did learn something new though. I never realized that the Chinese were treated so poorly in America during that time in history. That was truly terrible. Molly and Daniel have finally set a date for their wedding and Molly has gone to Westchester County to sew her trousseau and plan the wedding. As it turns out Molly is terrible at sewing and restless; she has promised to give up her PI business, but she's not married yet, so as soon as she gets a letter offering her a job, she sneaks back into the city to squeeze in a little more sleuthing before the final bell(wedding, that is). A wealthy Chinese immigrant wants her to find his missing bride, but after talking to people close to him, she suspects his bride ran off. She is a teenager brought over from China and Rhys includes information about the Exclusion Act that prevents Chinese men from bringing in their wives, but merchants are allowed to send for their sons. So one of the only ways for a Chinese man to come into America is to pretend he is the son of a merchant already here. He pays money and becomes a "paper son". The girl had been smuggled in and disappeared when she saw how old her husband was. When the man who hired her is found dead after jumping or being pushed off the roof, Molly is investigating the scene when she sees her husband, Chief of Police Daniel Sullivan, and sneaks away. She visits her best friends, Gus and Sid, and agree to be in the wedding and plan to hold a party for her. Daniel finally finds out that Molly is involved and he warns her she must stop her sleuthing because the case is a very dangerous one. Not soon enough, however, as a hand covers her mouth and she was yanked backward and she is given opium. Will Molly be rescued in time to attend her wedding and will Daniel believe her when she pledges again to stop her investigating?Read on.
What do You think about Bless The Bride (2011)?
Interesting read about the Chinese in NYC during 1903. These remain quick fun reads.

I wonder if she will stick to her promise to Daniel. I would guess no.
