I have nothing against teen fiction, in fact I usually devour them. Nothing is better than one of those fresh, witty characters to lead a story into the spotlight. However, I either love it or hate it. My Life Undecided, for some reason, particularly annoyed me. As I turned the pages, I do admit it did get better. Yet I found I hated Brooklyn almost as much as I hated Shayne. For me, there's a line between humor and immaturity. I didn't find Brooklyn all that funny, especially in the beginning. I don't even want to get started on Shayne. I am not one of those people who hate love stories, who roll their eyes at the kissing scenes. When Brookyn barged into the diner and confessed her love for Brian, I expected to swoon. But I found that I was thinking to myself, "really?". A two is harsh for a book that I think many teenage girls will find delightful. However, a few things about this book really bugged me. I work in a high school, and my biggest issue with the whole book is that Brooklyn is only 15. I'm sorry, but I just didn't buy the idea that Shayne, as a sophomore, could be the Queen Bee of a high school. The casual drinking and clubbing by girls that young didn't ring true to me either, especially since this story was set in Denver. I felt Brooklyn's behavior was much more realistic for a girl a year or two older.
What do You think about Blog Galau (2012)?
This is the kind of book that makes you feel warm, fuzzy and happy inside after reading it :)
