3.5 StarsAs far as free books go this one was definitely on the high end of the spectrum.Eilidh is banished from the Otherworld for having the ability to cast azure magic. She mostly stays in hiding until a blood faerie starts killing people and ripping out their hearts in some crazy ritual. Eilidh has grown to care about the humans in the city and one cute police officer in particular. She was never trained in her magic (as it is forbidden) and she finds out a lot of the things she was taught just aren't true. Now Eilidh and Munro need to figure out their magic, their feelings and how to stop a super powerful and crazed killer. This was pretty good. It got right to the point and didn't drag things out...but maybe some parts were a little too rushed. For instance I'm not totally sure I understand all the powers and affinity's and season stuff they went on about. But, I did get the gist of it and was able to follow along. All in all I liked the story and the characters and will probably continue the series. Rating 2,5 stars.I got this book for free so I gave it a try and it's overall okay.Though there are a few things that irked me:For some reason the female lead is described in more than one instance and in some detail but the male lead...I don't even know what he looks like. The only describtion I remember is "tanned skin" and maybe tall but it is not very clear wether he was meant by that or his colleague. The male lead falling in love with the female lead was very unconvincing and not even the "magical binding" part of it. Male lead does not really question his sudden burst of feeling for female lead and they are in some instances more like lust?? Also he can't control his urges and passionately kisses female lead without so much as knowing weither she even remotely likes him (they know each other for maybe a day at this point). The death-scenes are not at all dramatic, there is no real impact, no emotion, I've read books where a run over squirrel gets more compassion.Despite these things it's an okay read if you're just looking to pass some time and are in the mood for urban fantasy-ish stories.
What do You think about Blood Faerie (2011)?
I liked this book enough that I want to read the other installments. Good characters.

I enjoyed this book. The lead male character is one that you can visualize. Fun read.
