This book was awesome! I would highly recommend it to anyone who would like to read a good fantasy read. It contained all of the elements to make it a great epic fantasy: battles, a well-developed main character and plot, friendship, and death. There was a small love story, but it was far from the focus of the story and it was not distracting. Some of the minor character names were a bit hard to remember, but the main characters were well-developed and their names were easily recognizable. It was a book that was very hard to put down with its swift plot and engaging fight scenes. Mark Lawrence, Michael J. Sullivan, Terry Goodkind, George R.R. Martin and now...Anthony Ryan! So, most stories are predictable, you know the damsel in distress will get rescued by the knight in shining armor, you just know the best friend won't get killed off because...well...he's the best friend etc and, I'm okay with that! As long as the story grabs me by the neck and forces me to stay awake all night drinking tea, then it's worth it, Ill take the predictable outcome. That is what I loved about this story, it just flew my predictability right off course! Refreshing....Tower Lord, here I come!
What do You think about Blood Song (2011)?
Foreshadowing can get a bit childish but otherwise a great read.
