Bone Appetit (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

First of all, don’t you just love the cover? I absolutely love the pink color- as a matter of fact, it was the reason I picked it up at the store in the first place. The little details are what is important about this cover. From the skeleton hand of the waiter, to the fact that the woman lost her flip-flop. Creative and original. If you follow me on Facebook, you already know that this book was a Dollar Store find. I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Usually, the books at the Dollar Store are disappointing. This book, however, was incredible. It was fun, but suspenseful. Well written chapters and a mix of emotions made it a whirlwind that I enjoyed riding on. The characters are cared for by the reader in a way that’s reminiscent of Darynda Jones’s Charley Davidson. This is technically part of a series, but I didn’t know that I until too late and the book stood alone beautifully. The only thing I can say in a negative fashion, is that the author used the main character’s full name too often. I get that that is the name she uses for her company, so I never looked twice when people she was investigating used it, but when her friends and family did it felt unnatural. Now, like I said, I didn’t read the rest of the series so maybe there is an explanation behind this that I am unaware of. I’ll find out, because I plan to purchase the rest of the series and read every single one of them. I hope this isn’t the last in the series, because I would be disappointed if it were. It’s THAT good. Fast paced mystery at its best! I loved how you couldn't guess who it was.. I had no idea! This is the first book for me in the Sarah Booth Delaney mysteries, won't be the last though. I enjoyed Sarah, her best friend Tinkie, her "ghost" Jitty and all the other appearances. I loved in this one how Jitty would appear as different cooking show hosts -- very cute and different! All the talk of yummy recipes made me super hungry! I wish there was a section of them...It held my interest until the VERY end so that is good..sometimes you know who did it and it just is tied up with a neat bow at the end, but Carolyn Haines knows how to give you a good mystery and keep it going!

What do You think about Bone Appetit (2010)?

Not my favorite book in this series. This one was just a bit too far fetched for me.
