What an eye opener. I always knew I was being sold to but I never ever realized the extent that marketers go to in order to make me write the check. Or more appropriately, click the button. Because he is on the inside, the author tells a great story or more appropriately, an expose of the marketing industry. Yet, lets not be mean here. I knew all along what was happening to me and that I was being sold to as it were and as it is so I am not condemning the marketers. I stand in awe of their ability, tactic, processes, procedures, and drive. I love the way Martin writes and his ideas. Following the same methodology as in Buyology it manages to make you understand some deep and complex processes of the human mind. It seemed to me though that all the empirical data and scientific studies Martin provides and uses to support his hypothesis make the reading less fluid and sometimes even tiring. Although the topic is really interesting it will never be like reading a novel and this would be applicable to any other book centered in topics such as psychology or consumer behavior.
