He ducked into White’s, escaping the late May shower. So much for the hope the rain would hold off long enough for a ride about Hyde Park. Ah well. Better to be at White’s than stuck at his empty house with nothing but a pile of paperwork and his own thoughts. With a swipe of his hands, he brushed the rain off his brown coat then headed up the main stairs to the coffee room. “…significantly different than forever.” Linus’s voice, drenched in disdain, echoed in his head. Hell, he could not get those words out of his head. Two days, and they still threaded through most every thought. The low hum of conversations reached his ears as he took the last step. Hopefully, he’d find an acquaintance at one of the tables. Someone to distract him for an hour or two.
