Bruno, Chef De Police (2008) - Plot & Excerpts

I read a review of a book later in this series recently and liked the sound of it and so , as is my wont, I went back to the beginning of the series.I enjoyed the book very much and in reading it found that I learnt things about the divisions of the French police and what the responsibilities were and who the paymasters are for the different branches. The French are our historical enemy but in reading about their problems with the bureaucrats of Brussels and with immigration, and what they think about both, it seems as if we have much in common.I was trying to think of an English equivalent of Bruno but havent managed it yet. May be as you read this review , you might have an idea. Please feel free to let me know.Good characterisations and a good paced story kept my attention throughout.I am looking forward to the next in the series. Quite a promising beginning to a series. Although it takes place in France, it reminds me a bit of the Donna Leon novels. I quickly grew to like Benoit Courreges, aka Bruno. (The man has a basset hound, how could I not love him?) The author leads us through the story, and the country, with many insights as to the people and history of the region. I enjoyed this quite a bit, even if the resolution seem to wrap up in the last ten percent of the book. I will certainly track down the next book in the series to read.

What do You think about Bruno, Chef De Police (2008)?

A great easy read, which takes you to France with good food and plenty of intrigue thrown in.
