“Uh… Uh… Are you sure?” Crain never took his eyes off the monitor. He kept moving the white paddle back and forth across her belly. Finally after a long pause, he turned his eyes back to her. “Yes, Jade. I’m sure.” “I’m… pregnant?” Her eyes filled with tears. “Yes, you are.” He turned his eyes back to the screen and pointed. “See here? Here’s the head.” A muffled gasp escaped from Jade’s throat. Clint looked over at Lexi with horror. Her face stared back with a mixture of question and astonishment. She shook her head. I’m no expert, but I can’t see a damn thing on that television! What’s he looking at? It’s just fuzzy to me. “It just looks like…” Jade was struggling to form words together. Tears were streaming down her face now. “Like a peanut.” “I know,” he said, moving his fingers across the screen. “Here’s the little body, and here is where the legs are curled up against the body. Do you see this little flutter?” She nodded, speechless.
