Well this was a little spooky. This mom and wife suddenly realizes she is invisible. It is a thing that sometimes we as women just have to continually do our job, get the kids off to school, drive everyone everywhere, make good dinners, just do what we do until people expect it of us and forget we are really there. It takes her family a long time to notice she is invisible because they don't really see her. She finds that her friend notices right away and eventually she finds other women who are unnoticed too and gets organized. Apparently it has something to do with some combination of meds that the women are taking, but I prefer to think of it as something that can happen to women who try too hard. I was surprised by this book - when telling others what it's about, it seems like such an out there book that I wouldn't like it. I would also think there would be more details about the things she could do as an invisible person, but there were only a few. However, I couldn't put this book down - I really enjoyed it. The message that we don't always see what's in front of us, and we take things/people for granted, is a strong one!
What do You think about Calling Invisible Women (2012)?
Lots of fun. I remember being and invisible wife, mother, friend myself. Read this in 1 day!
