Before driving Charlie by the house, so Mac could take over, Annie had called and given him a short version of how she’d gotten him back on track. Knowing how intransigent his grandfather could be, Mac suspected it couldn’t have been easy, and now not only did he still want her, but he had even more reason to be grateful to her. He had every intention of crossing that line between friends and lovers, but at this point Mac realized that what they’d begun to build between them was more than just friends with benefits. Something deeper. Something he was going to have to consider for both their sakes.
