This book starts with a bang and the action rarely slows down until the last page is read. Although part of a series about the same cast of characters, back story is added in bits often in dialogue so it never seems to slow the story down. This book revolves around Kit and Pan from among the cats. Joe and Dulcie play supporting roles.Kit's people, the Greenlaws, are in an accident then their car is stolen. This introduces the villains who are involved in various goings on in Molena Point. The load of jewels hidden in the Greenlaws' car creates complications for their friends who are trying to recover the car before the police find it. The origin of the jewels from a hidden underworld creates a rift between Kit and Pan, both too stubborn to listen to the other's point of view. The story pulls the reader along full of twists and turns as those seeking and those evading maneuver, sometimes changing places. It is a quick, fun read. Coming home from visiting Kate, the Greenlaw's & kit are in a car accident. Right after the accident the Greenlaw's car is stolen along with the gifts from Kate. Kit winds up lost hididng from coyotes & waiting for rescue, while the Greenlaw's are rushed to the hospital. Misto discovers the photo of a little girl taken 60 years ago. It makes him remember in his past life, he knew that little girl. Emmylou has an abandoned cottage on her property. Joe & Dulcie discover two men who broke in, are now living there. Kate's story of being in the other world makes Kit afraid. But makes Pan very interested in maybe exploring there sometime.I enjoyed reading this book. I hope there are more Joe Grey stories to read. I am looking forward to her new series!
