The nightly war rages on in Las Vegas. Superheroes and villains are battling for control over the desert and the mortals who call it home. Their exploits are recorded in comic books. Energy is imparted to them by their stories being read and more importantly believed. Joanna, no longer belonging to the light, is now being hunted by both sides of the zodiac. Not to mention an assassin from another realm is tracking her every move. She joins forces with the rogue agents that have been cast from both the light and dark sides of the zodiac for a chance at survival. This series is such an unpredictable read. When I read this book I had moments of thinking that anything was possible the story could take off in multiple directions. Even having those thoughts I still had moments of utter shock. I loved every page of it! 4.5 starsThis was probably my favorite entry in this series so far. It grabbed my attention right from the start and never let go. I'll avoid saying much about the plot because I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't read the series yet. The story picks up shortly after the end of book 4, as Joanna deals with the fallout of her actions. There is a ton of action in this installment, and also some surprises, one in particular that made me want to re-read the first 4 books to see if there were any hints along the way. I love when a book surprises me like that! I'm sad, knowing that the next book is the last one, but at the same time, I'm eager to see how it all turns out!
