I am usually not into historical fiction because it's mostly annoying. This book changed my view. Cherry is not your normal lady of breeding who just sits idly by while life goes on about her. She grabbed life by the horns and enjoyed it. Almost like she wasn't of that time, and was challenging her station much before women were. She was a sassy little firecracker. I liked her almost instantly. And I may be a romance lover, and it may have made me soft...but having a man be able to hold your place with just a look...well, it makes my heart happy. Even if it's only in a book. ;) Cute story, quick read. I really liked Ms Conn's Taffeta and Hotspur so I was expecting this to be along the same lines and it was.Lord Westebrooke has promised to marry a woman he has yet to meet. He falls for a woman in his employ and isn't sure how to get out of the situation. Cherry runs away from home to avoid marriage to a man she hasn't met because she will only marry for love. Not too hard to figure the plot but cute all the same
Dislike the too-romancy title, but the book itself was fine. Formulaic Conn.
